Of all the Galapagos Islands, Floreana is the one most affected by the presence of humans and their introduction of goats, that ended up roaming loose on the island for many years. They often live over 100 years, perhaps due to the fact that they rest for an average of 16 hours per day; during drought they may sleep for weeks.

Nazca boobies, many with their young close at hand, were seen in abundance on San Cristobal. Not much smaller than a regular cruise ship and well designed.

Phylogenetic analysis may help to "resurrect" the extinct species of Floreana (C. nigra) – a species known only from subfossil remains. He was an engaging young man that provided great service and he was highly personable. The Galapagos National Park sets the schedules for any group that visits its parkland, and they require each group to be accompanied by a guide, which prevents overcrowding.

The Galapagos is home to the world’s only marine iguana, which can be found on almost every island in the archipelago. We also really liked Eduardo our server. Highlights for me were seeing the giant tortoises, the blue footed boobies, and the frigates.
