The artistry is phenomenal. Debut author Kelly Yang draws from personal experience to create a humorous and poignant novel, Front Desk , centering on 10-year-old Mia who manages a motel with her immigrant parents.

Sadly, though, I did not like the fry bread recipe. Fry Bread: A Native American Family Story received Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Award for most distinguished informational book for children.

I personally appreciated the historical section for myself— it gave context to the book.
