Rustic and charming with beautiful views of the island coast, this campground is frequented by backpackers and hearty hikers. Upper loop has more secluded sites if there are no group visitors.

Visitors are advised to bring supplies for an extra day in case boats are unable to pick up campers due to sea conditions. The people one site over had their dinner stolen. The remoteness and limited information on the Channel Islands park, made it difficult to prepare. Love that there isn’t many crowds. There are no trash cans for the public on the island, so you must pack out all trash when you leave. The Del Norte campground has four primitive campsites (four persons per site) and users must camp within these designated sites. One last thing, AT&T users, at least while we were out there, you have LTE connection right at Scorpion Beach. There is only a limited amount of weight you can carry on the ferry. Nr. It might not be terrible for people that have camping gear, but if you don’t, then it is a pretty scary thought having nowhere to sleep for the night. The trail winds up and down two canyons (Cañada del Agua and Cañada del Muro) to the signed junction with the Del Norte Road that leads .2 miles to the campground. The upper loop contains the six group sites and the last three family sites 23-25 are located above the group sites.
